Had my hardware exam.
Was not as bad as expected. I still dislike the fact that he didn't give us a model exam paper to work off (he's taking over
Bastard's Dalton's course and changed the paper). So no past papers or a model paper to work off... I harbour a little bit of malcontent.
On the upside, did rather well. It was 6 questions, do 4, with one of them being mandatory.
The mandatory question was sweet. It was essentially everything I'd looked at quickly like "what is register forwarding in terms of pipelining" and the like. Other questions involved stuff like performance and writing mips assembly. One was translating from MIPS assembly into hex, using a reference card for... um... reference. There was a lot in there. He gave us 2 hours, which is 15 minutes longer than the other exams, and even then most of us were pressed for time... at least when we talked about it after. There again, that might just be because I was talking to the people who stayed til the time was up.
Anyway, I reckon I passed. I can almost say for certain that I did. I might even have gotten honours, but I dunno. Tough exam... but only because of time considerations.
