On a TV note [Jan. 26th, 2009|12:56 am]

I think Dexter is my new Death Note; ok, the timing's a little off, so it means that I'm not awaiting the next episode with baited breath. Sure, there are major differences - so far, (I'm only 6 eps into the first series) Dexter has an invisible adversary, as opposed to Light, and there's no clever interplay trying to double/triple/quadruple-guess in order to form strategies. Also there's no Maximum the Hormones, but somehow, it's still filling up a nice little Death Note shaped hole.

Be grateful that this is only happening now! Were I actually up to date, and following hanging on the release of all the latest episodes, you'd possibly have me filling your f-lists with inane comments about the general state of the characters.

On one Dexter-related note, Julie Benz is in it. As a result, I began to wonder if Dexter was the guy who played Luke in the first season of Buffy. Unfortunately not, instead it's Michael C. Hall, of Six Feet Under fame.

So yeah, this is what my late nights will be blamed on.

Dexter is good. The last few shows I've watched are House, Dexter, True Blood. I'm looking at Numb3rs now, but it's a bit meh.

True Blood? What's that, and what's it like?

As for Numb3rs, yeah. I watched it a few times, and it's basically a long-haired mathematical savant coming up with random leaps of induction with the hint if maths behind it. For some reason I'm just imagining an xkcd comic of it. I SOLVED IT WITH SCIENCE!

Yeah you're right about numb3rs. It's good to see a show that promotes the idea of trusting science and logic, however most of the time the maths is too good in that show. In reality there is no way you could get data that good. It paints an unrealistic image of science, sorta like in CSI when the zoom in a shitty CCTV 1,000x times.

True Blood is good. It's about Vampires and how they have 'come out of the casket', i.e. mad them selved known and are trying to live alongside humans. It's set in a teeny small town in Louiseianna, and is drenched in sex and drugs, which is a brilliant combination. :)
