So, I'm having all kinds of trouble with Solaris right at the moment.

It's mostly down to packages. Hence I can see why NeXenta wants to do a Debian on OpenSolaris thing. But I wonder what other systems could be tried?

Ports?
Portage/Emerge (probably not a huge difference from ports except for one or two command line scripts when you really think about it)

It'd be very interesting to see what could be churned out, because I'm slowly realising why I disliked Sun's packaging system for solaris. If you don't know what I'm talking about, install Solaris, install some stuff from sunfreeware.com and install some stuff from blastwave.org and see how nicely they all play together.
