My Dad, always being the engineer, taught me something about technology, and life in general. When endeavouring on a project "It's only a matter of..." or "It'll only take 5 minutes" should strike fear into your heart. Unfortunately, us feeble mortals forget fast, and tend to say it a bit too often, while some other sit back and smirk saying "Yeah, 'Only a matter of..'! Heh."
Another phase should be added "It should be trivial".
There's this task I have to do in work, right? It was MEANT to be trivial, but instead it has me looking at it and wondering how to even GET to the stage where I could begin to break this. It's that bad.
So if anyone says "It's only a matter of", or "It should be trivial", run. Just run. Don't look back... or it'll get you.
On the upside, I got me a shiny external harddrive. Then I noticed it cheaper on komplett, by about 15 euro. On the upside, I did get instant gratification.
