w00t! Shiny [Mar. 7th, 2006|06:06 pm]

I know that for most programmers this is trivial, but I managed to work out a little proof-of-concept code that allows me to load classes that implement a certain interface at runtime.

Not a huge thing, but plays a fairly central role in the project I'm doing at the moment. w00t!

Yes, it's that time of year again when I'll be stuck on a computer coding my head into a mush, so I'll be posting lots of inane updates about how I progress on bits of code. Yay!

Shiny... for those of you that find that sorta thing shiny, and not sick wrong and twisted.

I take it you're talking about that bastard programming language Java, that was designed to appeal to managers, not hackers. My project is in Java and uses lots of horrible high level stuff that *suck* in Java.

Of course, if you were doing it in (say) Python, it'd be so much much easier.

Yeah, I could, but as the program is aimed to be in Java - last time I checked there was no PMF (Python Media Framework) set up, and imho it's easier to work homogeneously with a language rather than work with two, even if you can use jython to translate to Java. :)

But yeah, it's not pretty in Java, but at least it's easier than C++.

Yeah.

C++ > C > Java >>>> Python

Ah Java.... Its like C++'s retarded little brother that shits itself and throws tantrums over nothing, before jumping out of a 3rd story window and breaking its legs. Or something ;)

Yeah, so, let's see if you can write a basis for a plugin system in half an hour in C++ :)
