Be careful what you ask for. [Mar. 5th, 2009|09:46 am]

Why do I get the feeling that taxi drivers campaigning for the restriction of taxi licenses is not unlike turkeys petitioning for Christmas?

I know that the argument is to stop more going onto the roads, which would increase the already high taxi to customer ratio, but in order for that ratio to lower, we'd have to have a reduction in taxis on the road.

Of course, I'm sure a lot of the Irish lads would believe that the foreigners should go in such a move, and the Dubs would agree, but also argue that the non-Dubs should make up part of this count. I'm not sure what the non-national drivers would think.

There again is the Transport Office going to cut off a source of revenue in the current economic climate?

Fecking taxi drivers. I have no sympathy for them. I think the current taxi situation is great. There are loads of taxis now. If they can't make money in the business, then they should get out of the business. Hardly any of them pay all their tax aswell.

Feck em! They want to go back to the good ole days where you sold your taxi plate for over 500k easily and could shaft people because you knew they had no other choice. They already sneaked in an extra fare increase in the last five months. Gits.
