Yay, my first poll. For reference nerd-cutting is:
Nothing to see here
(Note: there's nothing to see under that cut)

Poll #1118312 Cutting

Are the nerd-cuts useful?

Yes
2(50.0%)
No
0(0.0%)
If only there was a way to tell LJ to open them by default
2(50.0%)

Should I keep nerd-cutting?

Yes - I don't want to read that stuff
0(0.0%)
No - I'm too scared to click when they're cut, but when they're not, sometimes they're not so scary and I occasionally learn things.
0(0.0%)
No - I'm a hardcore techy and feel that this nerd-censorship is OPPRESSION
0(0.0%)
I don't care - I never read vyour stuff anyway
0(0.0%)
I don't care - I'll always read your stuff.
5(100.0%)

Additional comments on the practice are welcomed.

'If only there was a way to tell LJ to open them by default'

I've been thinking this myself for a while now....

I think cutting etiquette is sorely missing on most of LJ. If you're writing something that most people will find boring, cut it. I read most of your cuts, but not all.

Most irritating are people who don't put memes or cat macros behind cuts. That's an abomination!

Aye, I have been thinking similar on the subject of cutting. It makes it easier to skim what you do and don't want to see. I think the trick, is a bit like preparing fugu*, is trying to figure out the balance of cutting and teasing.

* Apparently, it's easy to pick out the non-poisonous bits of the pufferfish but the trick is to put on just enough of the poison to make the tongue tingle without shutting down your central nervous system.

True I should have. I'll count it as such.
